The SFArtsED Summer is San Francisco's best arts summer camp for students 6 to 14 in musical theater, painting, drawing, singing, dancing, sculpting, drama and more!
San Francisco Arts Education Summer Programs include:
EXPLORATION (ages 6-9)
Younger campers spend exhilarating days experiencing everything from world rhythms and dance to choral singing and mixed-media art projects, from instrument making to theater and storytelling. Full-day Exploration sessions are taught by enthusiastic professional artists who understand how best to help children spark their own creativity. Each session features a fresh and exciting mix of performing and visual arts experiences that vary thematically from session to session. Structured activities are balanced with free time for play outdoors. Sessions conclude with a showcase for family and friends.
BROADWAY BOUND (ages 9-14)
Broadway Bound challenges young people with strong interest in theater to train as a “triple threat” singer, dancer and actor. Session One’s music celebrates Broadway classics from the Golden Age (1930-1965), while Session Two emphasizes contemporary favorites. In Session Three students will collaborate with the SF Bay Area Theatre Company, a group started by SFArtsED alumni, to create a fully staged concert production of Ragtime, an epic musical exploring race, immigration and what it means to be an American. The final week of Broadway Bound Session 3 will take place on campus at San Francisco State University.
ART & DESIGN (ages 10-14)
Art & Design explores various aspects of and develops skills in visual art making. Session One explores the worlds of clay and three-dimensional creations in Art & Design: Sculpture. In Session Two, designers will move fashion forward in Fashion Design and create runway-ready styles in Art & Design: Fashion. In Session Three, Art & Design takes young visual artists into the Artists’ Studio, an exploration of mixed-media arts that includes painting, drawing, illustration and more in Art & Design: Artists’ Studio (Mixed Media). A curated exhibition in a gallery space will feature work created in both sessions. Interested middle-school students may continue their exploration of art and design into the school year with the after-school/weekend Art & Design program.
