Love this experience!
I learned a ton of Spanish and was able to meet some amazing people from all over the USA, Canada, Ireland, and Britain. Would recommend to anyone who wants an adventure in a new place and wants to get better at Spanish. My homestay familia was super cool, my teacher Jimena was so so patient with all of, and the white water rafting tour was epic. Highly recommend!!!

I LEARNED SO MUCH SPANISH
Highschool spanish does not teach you anything! Tico Lingo does! :) I entered this program barely speaking and left conversationally confident. I was speaking with so many native speakers! We spoke Spanish like the WHOLE time in class (4-hours!) and then I would go home and hang out with my homestay family all evening in Spanish. Even the cultural activities Tico Lingo sets up are in Spanish. I loved the cooking class and still make the recipes I learned while on this program. The tours were amazing and my classmates were from all around the world. I met a kid from Haiti and a girl from London that I still stay in touch with today! Would recommend this program to anyone who really wants to advance their Spanish speaking abilities and have a super fun adventure in a very interesting place! Hope to be able to go back this summer. Gracias Tico Lingo! Say hi to teach Freddy for me!

2019 Times
I did the Tico Lingo summer camp two years ago before pandemic times, before I went into Spanish classes @ my high-school. HS class day one was boring, day two I spoke w/ my teacher (in Spanish). Week two of class I got moved up to Spanish 2! Classes @ Tico and in Costa were way good because you mostly just speak all the time versus my current class which is way more grammar. My profesora Yobeth was so cool and funny. My host mom made super good food, I didn't know rice could taste that good. Make sure you get on a field-trip though Heredia is cool but you gotta check out the sights.

Pura Vida Costa Rica!
This camp was awesome! I went to Costa Rica for the first time to Tico Lingo in 2019. For this 3-week trip! I went with my younger sister, we were just 14 and 16 at the time. We had an absolute life changing experience on the camp and met other students from around the world. I loved loved loved my homestay family and still write them on whatsapp today lol. The staff was very nice, the food was great, Spanish class was sometimes boring but the teachers really made learning fun with games and activities and a talent show! We got to see the beach and the rain forest and my sister even took a surf lesson. We signed up again for the 2020 camp but... that didn't work out.
I would really really love to do this camp again and I recommend it to all my friends here in Kansas city. Loved Tico Lingo!

From the moment I landed, I loved it!! Meeting new people that come from all around the world was such a cool part of everything the first day there. Then meeting the homestay and really getting to SPEAK spanish was even cooler. We speak a bit of Spanish in the classes I'm in in highschool, but you're not ever talking to a native speaker who doesn't speak english. So, it's a different experience to say the least. I loved meeting the homestay and just trying to use the Spanish I knew whereever I could.
The classes at Tico Lingo were super fun too. My teacher Jimena was so so nice and patient with all of us. She made the class a ton of fun with games and stuff. And she spoke hardly any English the whole time. Afternoon activities could be kind of boring (dance class), but the others were super super fun. We went hiking in the mountains, visited an animal rescue center, and got to play soccer pretty often. It was cool. Weekends were the best -- white water rafting was absolutely epic.
I absolutely recommend this program to anyone who wants an adventure and wants to get better at Spanish.
