    Overview

Turn ideas into impact with UMass Amherst’s Entrepreneurship: Becoming a Game-Changer Summer Pre-College program. In this hands-on, team-based course, students explore every stage of launching a venture—from identifying real-world problems to pitching solutions and connecting with local mentors, incubators, and innovation resources.

The UMass Amherst Summer Pre-College: Entrepreneurship – Becoming a Game-Changer program empowers students to think creatively, solve real-world problems, and bring their ideas to life. This two-week, hands-on course introduces participants to the entrepreneurial process—from identifying opportunities and gathering insights to pitching innovative solutions.

Working in teams, students will develop a new product, business, nonprofit, or organization that addresses a meaningful challenge. Along the way, they’ll explore the full entrepreneurial journey, including ideation, market research, mentorship, and funding strategies. Students will also learn about local innovation resources, such as the UMass 3D printing lab, Valley Venture Mentors, and TechSpring in Springfield, MA.

The program culminates in a final showcase where teams present their ventures to fellow students and UMass Entrepreneurship mentors, demonstrating their creativity, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
