    Overview

Washington Studio School is pleased to bring back our hallmark Summer Teen Intensive Program in a condensed format this July. Whether looking to build their portfolio or just wanting an artful summer, this 4-week program is perfect for teens of all levels. Find out more!

Combining skill-building, introduction to the work of contemporary artists, and camaraderie, our Summer Skills for Teens Program will meet with a different focus each week. Whether building a portfolio or just wanting an artful summer, this program is perfect for teens of all levels. Still life, the clothed figure, portrait, and urbanscape will be the motifs for the first three weeks, with a very personal project at the end. Instruction will be held at WSS and outdoors as much as the weather allows, working with portable materials. The class size is limited to twelve students – so act fast! All instructors are fully vaccinated and are members of our year-round WSS faculty. All materials will be provided with an individual packet for each student. The materials fee is built into the tuition. Week One: Observational Drawing in Black and White Week Two: Observational Drawing in Color Week Three: Painting and Watermedia Week Four: Telling Your Stories: Mixed Media and Collage If space remains it may be possible to sign up for individual sessions – however, the sequential nature of the weeks means the most benefit is gained from being in the full program.
