The Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) is committed to giving survivors and their families and friends the resources they need to reclaim their lives and begin healing, to raising awareness of the issues survivors face, and to ending sexual violence through healing and social change.
The Boston Area Rape Crisis Center Youth Leadership Corps (YLC) is a group in which young leaders develop skills to become change agents and activists in their community. Youth ages 14–18 learn about and create projects to educate their community on issues of sexual violence prevention and healthy relationship promotion.
YLC members will also get the chance to learn about related topics, such as oppression, social justice, gender and sexuality, healthy relationships, and more! Skills like community activism, outreach, teamwork, communication, and leadership can be built while earning a stipend—this means that you will get paid to learn and develop leadership skills!
Members are expected to attend weekly after-school meetings in-person at BARCC's Cambridge location and virtually via Google Meet over the course of the academic year (September – May).
