    Overview

The Breakthrough Leadership Program (BLP) offers high school students (grades 9-12) the chance to mentor and lead rising fifth to eighth graders attending Breakthrough's summer academic program. BLPs are paid through San Francisco’s Opportunities for All program. In addition, hours count toward high school volunteer requirements.

High schoolers in the Breakthrough Leadership Program (known as BLPs) take on various roles, including decorating the school, co-teaching electives like dance or soccer, assisting with after-school tutoring, and supervising lunch and recess. They also lead Breakthrough cheers, plan events like Field Day and Spirit Week, and help create the annual Summerbook. Volunteers gain leadership experience while making a lasting impact on younger students.
