    Overview

Bright Beginnings, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that operates early childhood and family learning centers for children and families experiencing homelessness in Washington, D.C. Our centers offer full-day, year-round, developmentally appropriate early childhood education services for children birth to five at no cost to their families.

Classroom Assistants Teachers often need support in the classroom to work with children in small groups in different learning areas in the classrooms. Volunteers may be asked to work one-on-one with children, clean the classroom and assisting with various administrative tasks. If you are planning a volunteer activity for your group, we are limited to 20 volunteer classroom assistants per visit.

Volunteer Readers Literacy is such a big focus for our early childhood program, we are always in need of volunteers to read to BBI students. School Beautification Project (suggested for groups of 25 or more) At regular intervals, our facilities require routine cleaning and maintenance including cleaning the playground equipment, washing the walls and disinfecting toys and indoor play areas. Artists are invited to design and paint murals for our hallways or paint our classrooms on weekends.

Event Volunteers Throughout the year, BBI hosts a variety of events for BBI students and their families. These events are supported in large part by our passionate and committed volunteers. Please sign up for our mailing list to stay up-to-date.
