    Overview

The mission of the Elmwood Park Zoo is to foster an appreciation for wildlife and the environment that will inspire active participation in conservation.

Volunteers play a key role at Elmwood Park Zoo by helping guests connect with animals and supporting events that inspire wildlife and environmental conservation. A minimum of 8 hours per month (excluding January and February) is required, totaling 80 hours per year. Every effort, big or small, makes a lasting impact!

To volunteer at Elmwood Park Zoo, applicants must be at least 14 years old, have a positive attitude, and enjoy talking to guests about animals. Volunteers should be flexible, able to work outdoors and stand for entire shifts, follow schedules, and work independently. Requirements include completing an online application with references, attending orientation, and committing to at least 80 hours per year. Most importantly, volunteers should love animals!
