Since 1944, Fred Jordan Missions has worked on the streets of inner city Los Angeles and throughout the world to help share God's love by providing nourishing food, warm clothing, blankets and other vital services to people in need.If you could walk these streets with me you would be alarmed that human beings have to go without the basic necessities of life, like adequate food and shelter. After more than 50 years of working on Skid Row there's not a lot that shocks me. But there's still a lot that makes me despair. It's still hard for me to handle watching a mother picking through a trash bin to find scraps of food for her child. And it still rips my heart out to hold a frightened little child who has been abused by those who should love her and protect her. It's these scenes on Skid Row that drive me to use every ounce of energy I have to help feed and care for these precious ones, and try to rescue a whole generation of children on our streets who wouldn't have a hope in the world without the services we provide.
