Taxes can seem intimidating, yet filing may unlock thousands in benefits for low-income individuals and families. GetYourRefund, a Code for America project, needs volunteers to provide remote, empathetic assistance to post–Tax Day filers. No prior training is needed, and scheduling is flexible. Volunteers gain personal finance skills while supporting meaningful economic justice.
GetYourRefund.org is a non-profit service built by Code for America in partnership with the IRS with support from the White House and U.S. Department of Treasury. GetYourRefund.org (GYR) allows tax filers to answer simple questions about their situation, securely upload their tax documents and get connected with a local VITA partner to file their returns.
