    Overview

The Chicago Area Runners Association, CARA, is a non-profit organization committed to serving and advocating for the local running community. As Chicagoland’s running club, the organization works to provide accessible opportunities for all runners to train, race, learn, be social and volunteer.

CARA's 'Go Run events are free, timed 1 Mile and 5K runs in local parks that promote community engagement, active lifestyles, and volunteerism. These events help activate neighborhood spaces and build lasting connections. Volunteers 14+ (or younger with a guardian) assist with set-up, check-in, registration, and on-course support. Join the fun—run, volunteer, or both—and be part of your community’s 'Go Run experience!
