    Overview

The Friends of the Houston Public Library, founded in 1953, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to fostering wider recognition, use, and support of the Houston Public Library. The Friends Book Warehouse is the volunteer-powered, book-processing, and outreach program of the Foundation. The Friends support the Houston Public Library by processing used books and by supporting initiatives, and events through volunteerism and advocacy.

Support your local library by volunteering with the Friends of the Houston Public Library at the Book Warehouse! No prior training/experience is needed; guidance will be provided at the Book Warehouse.

We welcome all volunteers ages 13 and up. Please wear close-toed shoes and clothes you are comfortable in.

For Friends of HPL volunteers 17 or younger: Please print our volunteer liability release form and have you and your parent or guardian sign it and bring it in with you on your first shift with the Friends of HPL
