    Overview

    The Humane Society of Greater Miami is dedicated to creating a humane community in which all cats and dogs have homes with responsible, committed and loving caregivers. The Society is focused on ending the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable pets by providing the public with quality adoption services, low-cost spay/neuter services and extensive humane education programming for citizens of all ages.

    The Humane Society of Greater Miami is looking for dedicated volunteers to become a part of the team! In our volunteer program, you will assist the organization with various tasks that all tie into making shelter pets' lives more comfortable and happy while they wait for their forever home.  You must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer.

    VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN AND OUTSIDE THE SHELTER

    In order to become a volunteer, each person must attend an Orientation Presentation and a Shelter Training. During these trainings you will learn more about  our Volunteer Program and Policies. Once you have completed both, you will be able to sign up to the shift of your choice detailed in the tabs below.

    • Administrative Support will help staff members in different departments with daily or seasonal office tasks.
    • Cat Area Assistant help clean and organize the cat area. In addition, this position needs to help socialize and play with the cats to improve their mental and physical wellbeing.
    • Clinic Assistant help clinic staff with duties needed depending on their experience level.
    • Customer Service Support volunteer will help the customer service team with any daily or seasonal tasks needed in the customer service department.
    • Dog Walker primary responsibilities are to take the shelter dogs from Wags 2, Wags 3, and Lifestyles areas of the shelter to the park OR on a walk on the walking route for 10-15 minutes per minute.
    • Foster Department Assistant will help the Foster Care Coordinator with recurring weekly tasks including maintaining the foster storage room, packaging supplies, distrubuting supplies to original location, basic computer work, etc.
    • Light Duty Helper help different departments with daily or seasonal non-intensive tasks.
