    Overview

    Volunteer Title: Tutor Department: Community Department Location: Virtual Summary: I'RAISE, our non-profit organization, helps parents and children in low income neighborhoods. We are grounded in assisting students who are experiencing difficulties in adjusting to remote learning and are currently performing under grade level. We help parents and children in low income neighborhoods by providing free resources, programs and services.

    I'RAISE is able to succeed through the help of our volunteers who contribute their time to be a Tutor to a youth in our program. As a Tutor you will make a positive impact in your tutee's academic life. As a Tutor you will: -Tutor a child for 1.5 to 2 hours a week - Provide guidance and share helpful advices beneficial to your tutee's future - You will use your expertise and experience to help equip your mentee with the lifelong skills that empowers them, - You will empower them to become proud, confident individuals ready for success - You will assess the needs of the child and provide a curriculum specifically designed for your tutee - You will review classroom or curriculum topics and assignments - You will assist your tutee with homework, projects, test preparations, papers, research and other academic tasks - You will attend any required meetings which is beneficial and informative to your volunteer role Skills / Qualifications: - Must be 15+ years old. High school students will be required to fill out a Parent/Guardian Consent Form to volunteer. - Ability to empathize with the academic struggles of your tutee, and the ability to empower your tutee, and build up their confidence - Ability to provide judgement-free room Time Commitment: - 1.5 to 2 hours a week with your tutee - 6 months commitment
