    Overview

Meal Delivery Assistance Volunteers assist the team at UJCES's Adult Luncheon Club on-site, as well as on walking deliveries to clients. As a volunteer, you will help organize and deliver food.

Join compassionate people and deliver nutritious meals to New Yorkers in need.

The United Jewish Council of the East Side (UJCES) works to support the Lower East Side and wider NYC community through a wide range of human services and community development programs. UJCES volunteers are essential to our mission as we serve the community. With families spread out or non-existent, long-time residents of the Lower East Side don't have family they can count on for the help they need. UJCES supports our neighbors with food assistance including delivered meals.

DETAILS: Meal Delivery Assistance Volunteers assist the team at UJCES's Adult Luncheon Club on-site, as well as on walking deliveries to clients. As a volunteer, you will help organize and deliver food. Tasks include:

    - Assist with unloading food from a truck and bringing items inside the Adult Luncheon Club

    - Help count, organize and pack meals into carts

    - Accompany a team member on walking routes to transport and deliver meals to clients (group volunteers will split up during routes)

No experience is necessary, and training is provided on site. Carts are provided for easy walking transport; you may bring a personal grocery cart if desired, although not required. Volunteer shifts take place rain or shine, and involve walking within approximately 30 minutes of the UJCES site. Some delivery routes involve accompanying team members on multiple trips from the UJCES site. UJCES practices recommended social distancing and safety protocols related to COVID-19.

DATE & TIME: We are looking for volunteers who are available from 9:15 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., on Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Fridays.
