    Overview

    The mission of The New York Public Library is to inspire lifelong learning, advance knowledge, and strengthen our communities.

    We are currently transitioning our Homework Help Program to a Reading Buddies model.

    Reading Buddies will:

    Pair with children to read together for 20-30 minutes in order to help the child complete the reading log portion of their homework.

    Activities may include:

    Reading to their buddy

    Being read to by their buddy

    Reading together

    Discussing what their buddy read

    Times we need help are : Monday through Thursday 3pm - 6pm, possible Fridays and Saturday afternoons and also Sundays at Bronx Library Center after 2pm.

    We are recruiting for 3 locations: Bronx Library Center and Kingsbridge Library in the Bronx and New Dorp on Staten Island.

    Please apply if you are able to make a once a week commitment for at least six months.

    Please apply if you are at least 14 years of age or 21 years of age for Event Volunteers.
