    Overview

The mission of Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Academy, Inc. is to focus on partnering with our equine staff to promote independence while targeting physical and emotional well-being for individuals with disabilities, diagnoses, and those in at risk populations. Volunteers help Pegasus TRA provide therapeutic activities, both mounted and unmounted.

At Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Academy, all volunteers start as side-walkers, ensuring rider safety and assisting instructors. Additional tasks include grooming, tacking, and maintaining the barn and arenas. After three months, volunteers can train as horse handlers, leading horses during lessons and managing them in the barn and pastures. Lessons require up to 12 volunteers per day, and scheduling is coordinated with the volunteer coordinator.
