    Overview

Alpine Academy is a Residential Therapeutic School for ages 12-18 with emotional struggles. Students live on campus in homes with trained Family Teachers; attend an accredited school with dual-endorsed teachers; and receive weekly individual, family, and group therapy from Master's level clinicians.

Alpine Academy is nestled in a rural town at the base of the Oquirrh Mountains just 30 minutes from Salt Lake City, Utah. We are licensed as a non-profit Residential Treatment Center.  What makes us unique is our use of the Teaching Family Model, a nationally recognized and empirically tested and proven model for effecting change.

Our Lakeview Campus houses our Boys Program and our Mountainview Campus houses our Girls Program. Our 40 acre campus has seven beautiful homes where our students live with trained Family Teachers that provide on-going teaching and skill development, around the clock. With only 10 girls in each home, we are able to create a very small-program feel with a close, intimate setting. This constant continuum of care ensures that our students don't get lost in the mix or avoid what they need to work on.

Students attend school on our campus as well. We are accredited by AdvancEd and do all we can to create a normalized school feel. That means direct instruction by teachers that are certified in not only their subject matter but also Special Education. We do year-round school with a 10 class A-B block schedule so students can quickly start making up for missing credits to get back on track to graduate.

Therapy is built right into the school schedule so student never miss a class to meet with their therapist. Each student is assigned a primary therapist for weekly individual and family sessions. Students also do a minimum of 2 group therapy sessions after school with the potential of more specialized groups (like Grief and Loss, Drug and Alcohol, Healthy Relationships, etc). Our Master's level clinicians are trained in a variety of modalities (DBT, Mindfulness, EMDR, etc) so that they can find the approach that works best for each individual. We also offer Equine therapy right on campus as well as contract with Art and Music therapists. Our goal is to find what fits for each student.

In addition to our Academic and Clinical buildings, our campus has a beautiful Fitness and Arts building complete with stage and make-up room, full-size basketball and racquetball courts and a great weight room. We strongly believe that physical health is an import part of mental health.

We do two adventure trips each year where we take the whole campus, students, teachers, therapists, and residential staff camping and hiking. Each Spring we enjoying the 3 days of hiking in the National Forests of Southern Utah and in the Fall  we go white-water rafting down the Snake river outside of Jackson Hole Wyoming. These trips provide a great way to get out and experience life and still have a support system and continue practicing skills and working through issues.
