Abertay University is right at the heart of Dundee, combining all the advantages of a close-knit campus with the buzz of city centre life. As Scotland's leading center for environmental research, it is home to world-leading research teams whose discoveries are hailed internationally.
All of our buildings are within a quarter of a mile of each other, as are shops, bars, clubs, cinemas and theatres, and we’re just a few minutes' walk from the bus and train stations.
All of Abertay’s programmes involve employer engagement in delivery and work-related learning opportunities at appropriate stages of study including work placements, simulated work-based learning. Further, our research informs our curriculum and we engender research-mindedness in our students. One of the four dimensions of our new Abertay Attributes is 'Intellectual', and we foster our students to:
- Master their subject, understand how it is evolving and how it interacts with other subjects.
- Know how knowledge is generated, processed and disseminated, and how problems are defined and solved.
- Be able to critically evaluate information, and tackle uncertainty and information gaps with confidence and self-awareness.
Abertay is a compact and focused University, with a reputation for working effectively across traditional research boundaries. We are committed to research that delivers real impact for society. From environmental research into sustainable businesses, using technology to improve cancer drug discovery and to secure our identities online, to understanding the psychology behind the witness testimony of crime victims, and using computer games as investigative tools, our researchers are solving complex real-world problems.
