    Overview

The Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music offers professional bachelors degrees with an emphasis on experiential learning. The Conservatory is an artistic community within a private, liberal arts university, affording students many choices for leadership and performance.

The Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music is located in Berea, Ohio. The location, a residential community just 20 minutes from Cleveland, Ohio, facilitates the Conservatorys ability to provide liberal arts learning and practical career preparation. This location allows access to internships and field experiences for every major, as well as access to mentors and local leaders.

The Conservatory of Music at Baldwin Wallace University boasts dynamic learning, collaborative mentoring and professional results, making it a proven choice for students aspiring to the best graduate schools, orchestras, operas, theatres, and positions in teaching, arts management, or music therapy. The Conservatory harbors a supportive sense of community that is collaborative rather than cutthroat competitive.

The Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Music Education degree programs offer the highest possible level of musical and academic integrity available to an undergraduate student. All students must audition and be accepted for applied study on a primary instrument, regardless of the major they choose. The Conservatory enjoys accreditation by National Association of Schools of Music; and is becoming an All-Steinway School.

Several majors are available within the Bachelor of Music (BM) degree: Instrumental Performance, Keyboard Performance, Vocal Performance, Music Therapy, Music Theatre, Composition, Theory, and History and Literature. All music theatre graduates are signed with agents.

The Bachelor of Music Education (BME) degree embraces a comprehensive yet practical curriculum of choral and instrumental instruction to prepare undergraduates for licensure in music for grades pre-kindergarten 12. In addition to training in educational theory, students study privately with an applied faculty member in his/her vocal or instrumental concentration, participate in ensembles, and present an abbreviated senior recital. The Conservatory of Music has a 100% placement rate for music therapy and music education students.

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Music degree is for students you have a strong interest in music but do not wish to pursue a performing, therapy, or teaching career. This degree includes private lessons, ensemble participation, and other classes in music. Students who choose this major often plan to earn a second major in a non-music area or to major in Arts Management.

The Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music boasts 72 faculty members, 8 of whom are members of The Cleveland Orchestra.
