    Overview

Core courses and studio classes stress both production and criticism of art and the relationships between art and culture

All students admitted to the School of Art complete a common first-year program of study comprised of required courses in drawing, design, computer art, and art history. The number of students admitted to the first-year program is limited with the ability of the School of Art to provide studio spaces and sections of required courses; and to achieve optimum student/faculty ratio.

The School of Art awards a limited number of performance scholarships to first-time freshmen who have been admitted to the university and are entering fall semester. To be eligible for scholarship monies, students must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 and pursue a major program in the School of Art. Scholarship applications are reviewed on the basis of portfolio of work, essay, resume, recommendation form, and academic record.
