    Overview

    Bard offers B.A. degrees in over 45 academic programs in four divisions. Instead of choosing from standard departmental majors, Bard students pursue interdisciplinary, individualized programs of study, and the core curriculum ensures that students receive a broad academic foundation.

    Founded in 1860, Bard is an independent, nonsectarian, residential, coeducational, four-year college of the liberal arts and sciences. Bard offers undergraduate courses of study in four divisionsArts; Languages and Literature; Science, Mathematics, and Computing; and Social Studiesand in interdivisional programs and concentrations. Students may also earn a five-year B.S./B.A. degree in economics and finance. The Bard College Conservatory of Music offers a five-year program in which students pursue a dual degreea B.Music and a B.A. in a field other than music. Bard and its affiliated institutions also grant the following undergraduate degrees: A.A. at Bard High School Early College; A.A. and B.A. at Bard College at Simons Rock: The Early College; and through the Bard Prison Initiative at six correctional institutions in New York State. Bard's graduate programs offer specialized courses of study in the studio and performing arts, the cultural history of the material world, the curating of the contemporary visual arts, environmental policy, sustainable business, economic theory and policy, and discipline-based teaching for secondary schools.
