    Overview

Focused on the idea of direct and intensely creative education, the Corcoran offers 22 bachelors and masters degrees in the visual and performing arts, as well as in art history, interior architecture and museum studies.

The Corcoran's vibrant and active community includes more than 500 degree students pursuing a wide range of studies. Undergraduate studies culminate with a show in the main galleries of the Corcoran's renowned space in the Beaux Arts Flagg Building, which you can see virtually at the url: next.corcoran.gwu.edu.

Part of the George Washington University, the Corcoran functions as an incubator for artists, designers and scholars, who learn from internationally renowned faculty at the intersection of creativity and social innovation. Our vibrant home in Washington, D.C., means that our students tap into a nerve center of international culture and government. We have a strong track record for placement with top-ranked employers after graduation, since students can work and study at some of D.C.’s most prestigious companies, galleries, museums and design firms. Our students have internships at National Geographic, the Smithsonian Institution, National Public Radio, and the Washington Post, just to name a few.

The Corcoran's Visiting Artist and Scholars Series, in conjunction with our exciting roster of public programs open to all students, brings contemporary artists, designers, scholars, writers, and musicians to our stages, podiums and galleries throughout the year.
