The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) was co-founded by Sir Paul McCartney in 1996, has quickly established a reputation as one of the world’s leaders for the performing arts training for those who perform and make performance possible.
Our unique curriculum replicates the working practices of the arts & entertainment industries and over the last three years, on average 91% of our graduates were in work, 82% in the performing arts. We are home to around 950 students in total, with approximately 25% of our students are from outside the UK and over 30 nationalities are represented.
The university if situated in England's city of Liverpool, a UNESCO City of Music, listed as the Guinness Book of Records “World Capital of Pop” and home to more museums, galleries, and listed buildings than any other UK city outside of London. It is a publicly funded, university-level institution offering 3-year degree courses and one-year masters/ graduate school courses in the performing arts, including:

BA (Honours) Acting (Screen & Digital Media) (prepares you to work across established and emerging performance mediums, for both on-screen performances and gain off-camera skills)

BA (Honours) Dance (Like the US BFA program, we train dancers to work professionally. You will learn ballet, contemporary, jazz, commercial street dance styles, aerial dance, musical theater & tap).

Applications can be submitted via our website and there is no application fee. We hold auditions and interviews in the US each Spring, details of which are available on our website. We receive over 3000 applications for just 300 places each year and although admission is competitive we pride ourselves on being a creative, collaborative, and supportive community.
