    Overview

A diverse & sustainable community dedicated to discovery & excellence in teaching, scholarship & practice, Pacific University inspires students to think, care, create, and pursue justice in our world. Undergraduate students can choose from over 60 majors, and 15 graduate programs are also offered.

Pacific University is a diverse learning community offering a unique combination of undergraduate, graduate and professional programs in the liberal arts and sciences, education, business, optometry, and the health professions.

The school was founded in Forest Grove in 1849 by Congregationalist pioneers. Originally the Tualatin Academy, it became Pacific University in 1854 and conferred its first baccalaureate degree in 1863.

Today, Pacific University serves more than 3,500 students on its campuses in Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Eugene and Woodburn. Students come to Pacific from throughout the West and around the world to enjoy close, nurturing relationships with professors and a hands-on learning environment focused on real-world experience, civic engagement and global perspective.

Students work side-by-side with faculty in research, in teaching young children, and in serving patients in a variety of health and eye clinics throughout the Portland Metro Area. They participate in international study and service through a robust study abroad program. They find internships in local business, and they build relationships that stay with them throughout their lives.
