The College of Applied Science and Technology (formerly Summit College) is one of six degree-granting colleges at The University of Akron. Degree programs are located in the Polsky Building, Schrank Hall and Gallucci Hall. We offer nationally accredited associate and baccalaureate degree programs in a variety of technical areas. We offer minors and technical certificates, and through our Training Centers in Fire/Hazardous Materials and Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, and the Division of Workforce Development and Continuing Education, an extensive list of non-credit programs.
The College of Applied Science and Technology exists to help you achieve your career or educational goals. We focus on the learner and we commit to provide you with the tools necessary to succeed. We deliver pre-service and in-service training to industry, business, government agencies, health-care providers and human-service agencies. We provide quality instruction with credentialed, qualified and experienced professors who routinely use the greater Akron community as a "laboratory" for achieving educational goals. We recommend each student for the appropriate degree in accordance with his or her level of accomplishment and interest.
The University of Akron has more than 200 student organizations focused on everything from academics and hobbies to music and careers. Making time in your schedule to get involved in campus activities and develop new interests and friendships is all part of the college experience. Within Summit College, you'll find several organizations that are career-focused, such as the Garde Manger Club for hospitality management students, and the Criminal Justice Association for students who plan a career in law enforcement.
