    Overview

The College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture (CAPLA) is the nation's leader in sustainable design and planning for arid regions. CAPLA embodies the oldest design and planning programs in the state of Arizona.

Our faculty work at the forefront of sustainability and regenerative development, specifically, alternative energy, water conservation, landscape ecology, climate change adaptation, affordable housing, and heritage preservation.

CAPLA is made up of two schools, the School of Architecture and the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning; together with the college, we house eleven academic programs. Additionally, the Drachman Institute is contained within the college.

CAPLA curricula are highly integrated across the professions of architecture, landscape architecture, and planning, and delivered within a small, caring, and diverse community strongly connected to practice. Our faculty engages students not only in conceptual design but also the fabrication and construction of tomorrow's buildings and landscapes. We work at all scales, from the parametric design of a single ceramic block to the planning of the 350 mile regional Sun Corridor. We pride ourselves on our sense of community where students have every opportunity to interact closely with our faculty and staff.
