    Overview

Western Illinois University offers a variety of bachelor's and master's degree programs, pre-professional programs, a doctorate degree in education, and certificate programs. Western provides a number of standout programs unique to the university.

Western Illinois University's residential campus is located in Macomb, Illinois. Among many other awards, Western was ranked a "Best Midwestern College" by the Princeton Review, and was recognized as a top tier "Best Regional University" by U.S. News & World Report. WIU is loved by its students as well; the nine residence halls at Western are a home away from home, providing students a place to create their own college experience by getting involved on campus. Each hall has small differences and features like locations, resources, and primary community.

Western Illinois University provides students with an outstanding academic experience for undergraduate and graduate students. WIU's signature academic programs will give students an edge in the workforce after graduation. 65 baccalaureate degrees, 19 post-baccalaureate certificates, 37 master's degrees, 2 undergraduate certificates, 10 pre-professional programs, and 2 doctoral degrees are offered.

WIU boasts a robust arts program in art, music, theatre and dance, and radio and TV. Students in the Department of Art may study Ceramics, Drawing, Metalsmithing/Jewelry, Oil Painting, Watercolor, Intaglio, Lithography, Silkscreen, Sculpture, Graphic Design, and Art Teacher Certification. Students studying music have a wide variety of venues to become active participants in the music community - in recitals, student ensembles, choirs, opera, orchestra, community music school, celebration concert series, and university bands. The Department of Theatre and Dance provides students with individual attention, individual opportunity, and individual excellence. The BFA in Musical Theatre program is one of WIU's Signature Programs, and the department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre.
