The Apprenticeshop

Since 1972, we have offered hands-on programs dedicated to inspiring personal growth through craftsmanship, community, and traditions of the sea. Courses in traditional boatbuilding and sailing are offered year-round at our campus in Rockland, ME.

The Apprenticeship Program requires 24 consecutive months to complete and can accommodate up to 20 students at any given time. Ideally, this would represent four different classes, with five students per class.

The Apprenticeshop offers a variety of resources and services to its students. Some of these include financial, employment, and course-of-study counseling. Advising is provided as requested, on an informal basis. The Apprenticehop’s Learning Resource System consists of a marine reference library, a student lending library, archives of boat plans and periodicals, and electronic access to the shared collections of the Maine Library Consortium.
