  I came to Dwight Global in 9th Grade. I was not only transitioning from middle school to high school, but also leaving home to attend a pre-professional ballet school. This was a huge change for me as I was completely pushed out of my comfort zone and expected to achieve higher than I ever had before. From my first class with Dwight, I felt so inspired to achieve greatness. My teachers and dean were there with every step I took. I was pushed to dig deeper, ask myself and my classmates thought-provoking questions, and overall aspire to be more. With live classes for all subjects, I have always felt my teachers were there to help me. When I have questions or am confused, my teachers always want to help and meet with me so they know I am being the best student I can be. I am constantly motivated by my teachers and classmates who are part of an amazing community Dwight Global has created. I feel so accepted and supported in the DG community. I hope to dance professionally while earning an education. My dean, Ms. Hoffman, and college advisor, Ms. Miller, have let me know that this is possible as my spark of genius, ballet, means so much to me. The people at Dwight Global have pushed me, inspired me, supported me, and encouraged me to achieve higher than what I thought was possible. I am so grateful I applied to Dwight Global three years ago because my teachers, dean, classmates, and everyone at the school mean so much to me.

  Dwight Global is a family. That's the best way I can describe my wonderful school community, and I couldn't be more grateful to be a part of something so special. I have formed lifelong connections with friends across the globe who are pursuing so many different "sparks" in their lives, and I love gaining exposure to new ideas and perspectives from all of the friends that I have made in my high school journey so far. Online high school has been one of the best decisions I've ever made - Dwight manages to create such an engaging environment despite interacting through the screen, and I have so much fun during our various activities, whether we're holding a friendly debate, trivia competition, having a club meeting, or just having a thoughtful discussion during class! Our house system, which is very similar to the one found in Harry Potter, creates such a wonderful, miniature community in the school, and each of the four houses feels like a family. While we are part of a friendly competition, the point is just that - friendly! The house system really bring the school together. There really are so many different ways to get involved in the school, with each one bringing about new opportunities for learning and insights into the world! I'm lucky to have been provided with many ways to become a leader at Dwight, and through these experiences I have grown as a student and person.

  One part of Dwight that feels so unique is the teachers. There has not been a single teacher that I haven't loved in my three years at Dwight, which speaks to the real quality of the people working in our school. I have formed such close, personal connections with every single teacher I've had, both inside and outside the virtual classroom. They are always there to support me when I need extra guidance or when I just need someone to talk to. We always have fun in our classes, and our teachers foster such intimate and healthy learning environments. I've grown as a person so much because my teachers have pushed my intellect to the next level. Outside of academics, one of my teachers encouraged me to take the position as Head of Green House, something that I was super hesitant about at first. She helped me see how valuable this position could be, and I love being able to reach out to other students now and help them along their own journeys.

  There are a million more things I could say about Dwight Global, but it really boils down to the fact that I've found a community and school like no other - I'm academically challenged, have found some of my best friends around the globe, and have an incredibly strong support system. There's no place I'd rather be!

  I came to Dwight Global four years ago as a shy eighth-grader. From the moment I joined, I found a community of passionate, supportive, and brilliant students, each dedicated both to academics and their Spark of Genius. They inspired me to push myself in every area of my life, most notably ballet and academics, as well as to become a better person. Dwight Global is a group of ambitious, driven people, but it isn't ruthless or competitive. We thrive off each other's successes, congratulating the actors on their movies, the dancers on their roles, the tennis players on their tournaments, and more. Dwight Global has taught me that success and caring for others are not two mutually exclusive traits--something that often gets lost in the competitive atmosphere of ballet. In this, I believe that Dwight Global also incredibly unique.

  I would never have become the person I am today without the opportunities that Dwight Global has given me, namely as the Head of Red House (for two years now) and as the Head of the Creative Writing Club (for three years now), Global Cultures Book Club, Classics Book Club, and Student Ambassadors. I'm not the same shy eighth-grader who joined in 2017 because Dwight Global has encouraged me, in its safe atmosphere, to explore my different interests and take on leadership roles. I've also found a deep love for writing, which inspired me to apply for and attend Columbia University's Academic Year Immersion Program Novel Writing Intensive this past fall--with the support of my incredible AP Literature teachers. I hope to continue my passion for creative writing in college.

  The academics at Dwight Global have pushed me to embrace and thrive in challenges, particularly in regard to the Advanced Placement curriculum. As a sophomore, I took AP Language and Composition, AP Microeconomics, and AP US History, ending the year with the AP Scholar Award from the College Board. I'm now taking AP Literature, AP US Government, and AP Psychology as well as preparing for my SAT. I would never have been able to thrive in these courses without the help of my amazing teachers. From late-night Sunday extra classes with my AP Microecon TA to long email answers from my APUSH teacher to contemplating whether or not an obscure reference in a book counts as a Chekov's Gun with my AP Lit teacher, the teachers at Dwight Global go beyond the extra mile.

  College advisory at Dwight Global is beyond incredible. Our amazing college counselor has helped me with course selections as early as my freshman year and has met with me numerous times this year alone on preparing for applications, discussing colleges, evaluating my resume, finding a college English course for me to take next year, and so much more. She's always been just an email away every time I had questions on demonstrated interest, my NHS project and its effect on my resume, college interviews, and SAT prep. Ms. Miller has demystified the terrifying college process for me, and I'm excited to head into my senior year and begin the application process.

  Dwight Global has supported me through transitions between ballet schools, the transition to high school, the transition due to COVID-19, and soon the transition to college. It is, in one word, my family.
