    Overview

The Flint Hill School philosophy is that the community life of the school inspires students to respect individual differences in social, intellectual, racial and religious backgrounds while enjoying the rich experience of being bound together by service to the shared life of the school.

The mission of the Upper School is academic excellence within an atmosphere that actively supports the emotional, moral, spiritual, physical, and social development of our students. In the process, students are encouraged to assume responsibility and to become accountable for their actions and respect individual differences and celebrate one another in their accomplishments and talents.

At the core of the academic program is a caring faculty that is committed and responsive to individual needs while maintaining high expectations for all students. An average class size of 14 students and a daily schedule that includes a period for extra help give faculty the opportunity to provide personal attention. Employing a variety of strategies to support and challenge a wide array of learning styles in the classroom, our talented faculty seeks to help each student to realize his or her academic potential.

Our dynamic curriculum ensures that students receive exposure to a broad range of disciplines as well as the freedom to pursue particular areas of interest and talent. Our offerings supply the rigor and the scope necessary to provide our students with the preparation for, and access to, the most selective colleges. To supplement our comprehensive college preparatory curriculum and stretch even our most capable students, we offer 24 Advanced Placement (AP) courses. We know that a substantial component of the education of teenagers occurs outside of the classroom, and were committed to experiential learning through field studies, senior projects, community service, educational trips, etc.
