    Overview

FASNY provides a bilingual, French-American, multicultural education from Nursery through Grade 12 to an American, French and international community.

The school encourages intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and love of learning. We cultivate understanding, mutual respect, and appreciation of diversity in cultures and individuals in a safe and nurturing environment. We foster the social and emotional well-being and personal development of our students. We counsel, challenge, and support our students as they seek to achieve their potential, develop their character, and act with integrity.

FASNY values a well-rounded student experience and encourages artistic, athletic, and extra-curricular engagement. FASNY prepares our students for admission and success in competitive colleges and universities in North America, Europe, and throughout the world.

FASNYs Upper School houses all students in Grades 6 to 12 and offers a rigorous bilingual curriculum, preparing students for a FASNY diploma and two tracks of the French Baccalaur_at: ES (economics and social studies) and S (math and science). FASNY students traditionally are well prepared for French and American colleges and universities and are attractive candidates because of their bilingual, bicultural, and well-rounded educations.

Students hone their bilingual skills as they read, write, and analyze literature in both French and English. Sciences, such as physics, earth science, and chemistry are taught in French, while biology is taught in English. Economics, German, Spanish, and Latin are taught in French. Math is taught in both languages as are computer science, social studies, history, and public speaking.

We believe that the performing and visual arts are no less important than academics in the exploration of each young persons potential. Art with elective opportunities for further study is offered in English to all students. Students explore painting, drawing, and ceramics as well as graphic design, architecture, fashion, and sculpture. Printmaking and photography are taught also. Music and choral work are offered in English, and a theater arts program is offered after school. The music curriculum consists of ear training, sight singing, theory, music history, and music appreciation. Most students participate in the winter and spring music programs.
