    Overview

Northwood School, located in the Olympic village of Lake Placid, NY, is a coeducational, independent, boarding and day school serving students in grades nine through the post-graduate year since 1905.

Northwood School defines itself at least in part by its location in the spectacular Adirondack Mountains. We take strength and our school mission from the serenity and the awesome beauty we live around each day.

Our core values of Respect, Responsibility, Courage Compassion and Integrity are the foundation for all that goes on in our small (180 students), yet diverse (students from 26 states and 12 countries) community. We are committed to help all students find a pathway to success in college and beyond.

Small classes (average 10), a rigorous academic program and challenging athletics for all, set in the Olympic Village (1932 & 1980) combine to form the basis of the Northwood School experience.

The Board of Trustees recently completed the Campus Master Planning Study designed to set the course for campus renovation and construction for the next generation. This exciting project will serve as a guidepost for the future evolution of our school.

If going to school in a beautiful and safe winter wonderland, in a challenging and supportive academic environment with a one-hundred year long record of college placement and lifelong connections is for you, join us at Northwood School.
