    Overview

Camp Nor’wester is an overnight summer camp for youth ages 9-16 located in the beautiful San Juan Islands. We strive to minimize the distractions often found in the “real-world” and maximize everyone’s exposure to a simple, yet rich way of living. Our focus is to spend time in community, learning and improving on traditional camping and outdoor skills, waterfront skills like sailing, and kayaking, as well as biking, archery, arts & crafts, singing and drama

Camp Nor’wester’s extraordinary 135-acre property is located on the west end of Johns

We make it all happen with an incredible team of staff. They embrace the Camp’s mission to provide children the chance to discover their own strengths and talents in an environment that minimizes the distractions of outside world and is a safe place to learn both activities, but also social and emotional skills in group living. Camp Nor’wester builds a community each summer full of fun and intention. With a small group of campers, just 170 per session, and with a high staff to camper ratio, nearly 1:3, it is a program that creates belonging and inclusivity.

It is our mission to bring together a diverse group of young people to experience a challenging program and be part of a strong community. In support of that effort, we offer a scale fee structure which helps us maintain the quality of our program, broadens our community, and lets you choose the level that best fits with your family situation.
