    Overview

Edge on Science is a place where your child has the freedom to explore applied science and engineering. Individual and team projects make it a hands-on experience. Whatever skills or abilities your child has, we meet them where they are and guide them to the next level. A wide number of topics are offered.

Choose from Viking Adventures, Bridge Building, Drone & Code, Catapult Engineering, Marine Science, 3D Modeling & Design, Rocketry, Space Science, the Hydraulics Makerspace, and the Super Science Sampler.

Two locations: Lasell University in Newton MA and the Ocean Alliance in Gloucester MA

"Our daughter had a terrific week at the Summer Rocket Blast Off. It looks like we'll be setting aside shop area for rocket building!" -Westford MA dad

A project based approach allows your child to own the science and apply it. They will develop skills in communication, teamwork, using tools, building, organizing, reading drawings, coding, programming, measuring, estimating, sketching, observing, asking questions, recording data, simulating designs on a computer and troubleshooting. The engineering design process is taught via examples, stories, individual projects and team projects. Consideration is given for safety, economy, form, function, quality control and ethics.

"Edge on Science takes science off the page and puts it into the hands of your child." -Rondalyn Whitney, mom

The child to instructor and assistant ratio is 6:1 or less.

Lead instructors are scientists, engineers and/or scholars. They must pass a CORI / SORI background check and they are Red Cross certified in adult & pediatric, first aid & CPR.
