This program provides an opportunity to explore public health as a fundamental human right while contributing to vital health campaigns in a culturally vibrant region. Work alongside local healthcare professionals to assist remote highland communities through traveling clinics. In addition to gaining practical experience, students will have the chance to discover Cusco, go rafting in the Andes, and visit the iconic citadel of Machu Picchu.

Beyond your service work, immerse yourself in Peru’s vibrant culture, deeply influenced by the Incan empire. Explore a local weaving cooperative known for its stunning handwoven textiles. Discover how to prepare traditional dishes and enjoy dancing to various Peruvian musical styles. Meet a local healer and participate in a traditional Andean ceremony. Collaborate with nonprofit organizations and community leaders to enrich your understanding of modern Peruvian culture. During your 21-day stay, learn how artisans create ceramics from volcanic ash, and experience a night in a traditional village with a Quechua host!

The Sacred Valley near Cusco boasts breathtaking landscapes and remarkable archaeological sites. You’ll explore ancient ruins and embark on a two-day trek to the stunning Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you hike through spectacular valleys, you'll wake up to stunning views of snow-capped peaks. My GLA experience has changed everything for me. It is amazing how just three weeks can do that but it is because of those weeks that I am now more focused and ambitious in my normal life today. I originally decided to join GLA so I could learn leadership skills and I could not be more satisfied with the result. Everything they did was to help me come out of my shell. GLA allowed me to push my own limits by putting me in situations where I had the chance to completely embrace the culture surrounding me, which in the end helped me realize all that I can do. GLA also gave me the opportunity to meet the most amazing people. The friends that I met through GLA are some of the nicest and most outgoing people. It has already been a month since my amazing GLA experience and one of the things I am most grateful for overall are my new friends and the memories I got to share with them. The fact that I got to connect with my friends on an adventure as unique and memorable as this is more than I could ever ask for. One of the main priorities for GLA is community service. The community service in Peru was fantastic. It allowed us all to get to know the community and the land around it. Our program mainly worked in the fields and in a local doll making company. The places that we got to see and the things that we got to do were executed perfectly and I probably wouldn't have been able to experience as much as I did if I hadn't been with GLA. They had events planned from beginning to end and I can't think of a single day that was boring or ordinary. I owe my new love of traveling to GLA and I can't thank them enough for all the memories and life changing experiences.
