    Overview

    Looking for a sneak-peek into one of the nations’ top creative writing programs? Our Creative Writing Intensive will help you develop a stronger writing voice in fiction, poetry, and personal narratives. This skill development program includes workshops and special events with visiting authors to help you hone your skills.

    This one-week summer writing retreat provides students with individualized attention and a choice of activities to develop skills in fiction, poetry, and personal narrative. Lectures, workshops, and special events with Hollins faculty and visiting authors encourage participants to hone their writing skills. Each day includes unstructured time for students to practice writing and get to know the other students.

    SAMPLE DAILY SCHEDULE

    8 – 9 am: Breakfast

    9 – 10:30 am: Getting Artsy with Poetry

    10:30 – 11:30 am: Guided writing time; writing prompts

    11:30 am – 1 pm: Lunch and break

    1 – 2:30 pm: Flash Fiction

    3 – 5 pm: Guest speakers, field trips, writing feedback, graduate classes visitation

    5:30 – 6:30 pm: Dinner

    7 – 10 pm: Evening activities: crafts, movies, swimming, and more
