Since materials science impacts nearly every aspect of engineering design, studying it provides a practical, real-world application of science and math concepts. At this camp, campers will gain valuable insights into the fascinating field of materials science, working with professional equipment and skills in a collaborative environment.
Throughout the week, campers will:
- Solve technical challenges in small teams, exploring the applications of engineering metals and ceramics
- Engage in hands-on activities like tensile testing, electron microscopy, and creating slime and foam polymers
- Participate in exciting group projects and design-build contests
- Attend guest presentations from industry experts

Student Selection Process:This is a competitive application process. Students are asked to submit a 200-word personal statement explaining their interest in materials science and engineering and why they wish to pursue it as a potential college major and career.
Acceptance Notifications:Notifications will be sent by the end of May 2025 to the email address provided in the application. Be sure to check your email regularly! Accepted applicants will receive an online payment link to submit their registration and confirm their spot.
