Have you ever wondered how everyday products are designed? Are you interested in creating smart devices and innovative products? If so, the Mechanical Crash Course is the perfect camp for you. Using high school math and science knowledge, campers will design and build an autonomous product, experiencing the entire design cycle from start to finish.
This year’s project: design an Autonomous Vehicle to navigate an obstacle course and complete tasks along the way.
The camp kicks off with design concepts and the mechanical design process, followed by creating a virtual prototype using CAD software. Campers will make design choices and move forward with the manufacturing process, preparing their ideas for production.
Campers will have hands-on experience in Missouri S&T’s full mechanical workshop, featuring tools such as a CNC machining center, to bring their product prototypes to life. Additionally, campers will explore smart product design, electrical layouts, and utilize the Arduino program to enhance their creations. The camp will conclude with campers showcasing their final prototypes in a Shark Tank-like environment, pitching their designs and innovations.
Camp Activities include:
- Product design
- CAD modeling
- Manufacturing
- Additive manufacturing
- Digital electronics
Join us for a week of creativity, engineering, and hands-on learning where you’ll turn your ideas into real-world prototypes!
Registration fee includes all meals, housing, and camp materials.
