    Overview

Neighborhood Bike Works (NBW) provides educational, recreational, and career-building opportunities for urban youth in underserved neighborhoods in greater Philadelphia through bicycling; it also promotes cycling as a healthy, affordable, environment-friendly form of transportation.

Our popular camp offers youth, ages 8-14 the opportunity to recondition and earn a bike, helmet, and lock in just two weeks! Youth complete the Earn-A-Bike curriculum, participate in fun outdoor activities, go on educational field trips and learn about safe cycling, nutrition and healthy lifestyles. Classes are limited to 12 campers per session. Campers MUST already know how to ride a bike and MUST be able to ride a bike for 20 minutes without a break.

NBW's Summer Camp is jam packed with activities that are fun and educational. Whether it is a half-day or full-day camp, you can be assured that your child is bound to have a unique experience, will make new friends, and will be introduced to plenty of learning opportunities through our notable bicycle education program and dynamic field trips that include science, art, history, and exploring treasured Philadelphia landmarks. All of our field trips are travelled to and from by bike! NBW will provide your child with a helmet and bike to use for the trips while s/he works on repairing the bike that s/he will earn.
