    Overview

The University of Notre Dame seeks individuals whose intellect is matched by their capacity and desire to make a meaningful contribution to the world. Our students are leaders in and out of the classroom who understand the benefits of a holistic education of mind, body, and spirit.

The University of Notre Dame is now offering online courses in the field of STEM. High school students can experience world-class learning from professors and experts in some of today’s most sought-after subjects. This is a great opportunity from one of the nation’s top 20 universities, as ranked by U.S. News and World Report.

All courses are 100% online, enabling you to study at your own pace. Even better, you’ll be guided by mentors, and earn a Certificate of Completion from the University of Notre Dame.

    The subjects currently offered are:

    • Biology
    • Psychology

Biology: The Impact of Genetic Mutations

How do evolution and natural selection drive biological change? What is the importance of genetic diversity, and why don’t dominant traits always take over? In this course, you’ll explore how genetic mutation occurs in cancer, how energy is transformed in living systems, and the differences between metastatic and non-metastatic tumor cells. You’ll study how knowledge of evolution explains the existence of genetic diseases, the evolution of drug resistance in bacteria and tumor cells, and how organisms adapt to their environment over time.

Psychology: Understanding the Self and Our World

What are the various types of social influences, and how do they affect our reality? How are our individual thoughts, feelings, and behaviors impacted by others? In this course, you will investigate the central and active role of personality and the ‘self’ as it relates to our understanding of the world. You will evaluate the biased manner in which we make judgments of others and ourselves, and analyze the connection between knowledge of ‘self’ and wellness.

    Cost and Session Information

All course options, whether 2 or 4 weeks, have the identical educational content, learning materials, and number of assignments. The difference in length of course is due to time of year (not amount of instruction). We know the school year keeps you busy, so we’ve made the course longer during that time so that you can get assignments done. Fees: $1,495 per course.
