    Overview

The global climate crisis is a powerful focal point for looking at a range of connected issues: earth science, our energy infrastructure, sustainable development, and human security – security, according to the UN, equated “with people rather than territories, with development rather than arms.”

If you have an interest in global affairs and are thinking about it as a potential career path, this week-long program provides a comprehensive overview of some of the most pressing issues facing us in the world today. Join faculty from the Center for Global Affairs and guest speakers who will address these issues. The program includes site visits, readings, and multimedia, as well as a debate and other exercises. This program will broaden your horizons, increase your insight into these complex issues, and enhance your perspective on the world in which we live.

    Ideal For

    • High school students who have completed grades 9, 10, or 11
    • High school students interested in a career in global affairs

    You'll Walk Away With

    • An overview of the scientific basis of climate change and exposure to multiple facets of this very interdisciplinary and encompassing field
    • Insight into the possibility of creating new, more sustainable ways of living on earth

Students from around the world attend NYU summer programs, but only a college prep program like High School Academy provides the opportunity to explore both traditional and emerging career paths.
