    Overview

If you are 11-16 years old, interested in NASA, robotics, rockets or engineering then the Virginia Space Adventure Camp is the place to be this summer! All programs are a mixture of excitement and fun, with hands-on experiences. This 6 day/5 night co-ed Space Adventure Camp combines fun with the hands-on experience of building and launching model rockets, coding and building robots, and flying drones (sUAS).

Each day campers will explore topics through collaborative activities and hands-on projects designed to develop their strengths and build new skills. Campers will also have a chance to meet industry experts and go behind the scenes at operational aerospace facilities. Campers will get a chance to build and launch several rockets, including one from a model rocket kit and a custom-built rocket. The coding and robotics program utilizes Lego Mindstorms EV3 kits to engage and challenge students of all skill levels. Each camper will design, build, and program their robots and incorporate teamwork and competitive challenges to task their robots with specific actions. Campers will participate in a drone challenge to learn drone technology in a real-life scenario that involves teamwork. They will also learn a basic overview of the FAA and the rules to fly in the United States.
