Michigan Math and Science Scholars (MMSS) is a program designed to expose high school students to current developments and research in the sciences and to encourage the next generation of researchers to develop and retain a love of mathematics and science.
MMSS features small 15-student classes taught by University of Michigan professors, as well as other outstanding instructors from around the world. The small class size allows the student to receive a deeper exposure to a particular subject and to evaluate the University of Michigan not only as a summer program, but also as a place for future studies. Students take only one class per session and spend the majority of the day working on the class.
Two 2-week sessions are offered; students are given the opportunity to attend one or both. Each session offers courses from natural science departments within the College of Literature, Science and the Arts including Astronomy; Chemistry; Ecology and Evolutionary Biology; Earth and Environmental Sciences; Mathematics; Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology; Physics; Program in the Environment; and Statistics.
