    Overview

Families for Depression Awareness is a national nonprofit organization helping families recognize and cope with depressive disorders, get well, and prevent suicides.

Teen Speakers: Young adults who tell their stories of depression and bipolar disorder.

Our Teen Speakers Program provides teens and young adults with opportunities to share their personal stories of living with depression or bipolar disorder. These stories are shared in schools and communities to encourage other young people to seek help. They dispel misconceptions about people affected by mood disorders, alleviate the social stigma around mental health issues, and encourage help-seeking by those who may be having difficulties.

Participation in the Teen Speakers program helps to develop confidence and public speaking skills for our teens as they become emissaries for mental health awareness and wellness. Our speakers have appeared on Good Morning America and PBS, and speak at schools, clubs, and community events.

Our Teen Speakers use their stories to help others! We are actively recruiting new volunteers between the ages of 14-24. Sign up today to help us bring our program to communities throughout Massachusetts so more youth can get the help they need to be well!
