    Overview

    LSH aims to empower individuals, families, and communities to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency through an integrated program of social, educational, and advocacy services.

    Volunteering at LSH: Farming on our Inter-generational Urban Farm- Work together with teens and seniors to cultivate vegetables for our Hungry 2 Healthy program. Cleaning, organizing, and painting at our homeless shelter in West Philadelphia- Help us keep this space beautiful and clean for the homeless mothers and children we serve. Working with teens on project-based learning- Whether it’s creating a farm stand or preparing a community meal, you can work with teens to expand their horizons and grow. This is adaptable to long-term or one-time volunteering. At-home domestic violence advocacy, including letter writing and calling elected officials. Want to contribute from home? This is always an important way to support to our efforts to expand and improve services for domestic violence survivor. Tutoring with our Community Education and Employment Department- Work one-on-one on math, literacy, or computer skills with an adult who is ready to change their life for the better. Organizing a food drive- We are always happy to accept healthy food for our food pantry
