    Overview

    Workshop Houston’s mission is to provide youth with creative, technical and educational resources. Our vision is to lay the groundwork for a just society by creating a community that provides youth with support, expanded opportunities and alternative definitions of success.

    Volunteer opportunities are available in all of our programs. Workshop Houston offers innovative youth development programs through our four shops.

    Volunteer Requirements

    • Volunteer at least 6 hours per month (two shifts)
    • Helpful to have some experience working with middle school/high school students
    • Chopper Shop (welding and metal fabrication) - MUST have experience in metal fabrication, welding, or bike shop experience.
    • Beat Shop (music production) - Some knowledge of piano, guitar, and/or music software (i.e. Pro-Tools, FL Studio, etc.) is required.
    • Style Shop (fashion and graphic design) - Some experience in Photoshop, graphic design, sewing, and screen printing is highly desired.
    • Scholar Shop (tutoring and academic enrichment) - Volunteers must be enrolled in a 4-year college or have an undergraduate degree from college or university.
